TRADE WINDS CUBA ALBUM NOW AVAILABLE

NEW DOUBLE ALBUM AVAILABLE ON ITUNES, AMAZON AND CD BABY.

Trade Winds is a series of unprecedented music collaborations that travel along the historic triangle trade route, exploring the history and evolution of music through improvised compositions.  Created by NYC bassist and composer Matt Geraghty, Trade Winds builds collectives of premier musicians in coastal cities in the US, Caribbean, Brazil and West Africa, crafting new original spontaneous work in the moment.

The only two rules: Don’t talk and just play.

Trade Winds seeks to reveal the cultural and musical footprint that was made by the transatlantic trade route while creating a new model for music making in our globalized society.

Joining Matt in this latest journey to Havana is Brazilian saxophonist/producer Zé Luis Oliveira and filmmaker/cinematographer Laura Newman who produced an ongoing video series capturing the architecture, art, street life and culture of the Trade Winds destinations.

In this Trade Winds Cuba double album, explore 21 new collaborations featuring over 100 of the most prominent musicians from Havana and beyond.

All music recorded in Cuba over the course of 21 days from June 9th to June 28th in studios, outdoor venues,  the street, clubs, private homes and garages.
